For one of my classes, we were tasked to create a "PSA" announcement that was physically larger than ourselves and install it on the university campus.
For my "announcement," I went for a phrase I am fond of using when it comes to my design and creative projects which is:
"Make things cute & weird"
It does not necessarily refer to making things literally cute and weird (although I do like cute and weird things) but the contrast between the two makes something more interesting both visually and through the story it may tell. My idea of "cute" can also refer to what may be considered "in style", "trending", or how something should be "weird"
I had decided to install my project on the campus using the locker doors.
The idea was to have panels on the inside of each door so that, when they were all opened, they formed one whole image.
I drew up a mockup of how I wanted the layout to be and some potential illustrations I wanted to include.
During this time, I solidified my concept and determined the materials I would need.
Here is the final product!
There are five panels with illustrations and original fonts. I created several humanoid and doodle-like characters for the illustrations and used a comic/manga-inspired layout for delivering the text.
Here are my posters installed on the locker doors!
